Bob Dylan: the masquerade master

Abstract

Since the beginning of his career, Bob Dylan has invested creatively in the permanent and cyclical recreation of his public persona, seeing it as an artistic construction, a creative fiction, interconnected with his poems and songs. Thus, his multiple self-representations must be analyzed in parallel with his musical and literary works, because at each new artistic period, the singer-songwriter has reconstrutecd his own identity, as an author and public figure, antithetical to the previous one. This performative heteronymy naturally raises several questions of transit and boundaries between the ouvre and its author that I intend to analyse. For instance: literature as a performative art, identity as a fluid and poetic construction in permanent becoming, postmodernity, etc.
