Abstract

This paper is dedicated to the study of the short story "The Aleph", by Jorge Luís Borges, which brings in the narrative representations of the universe capable of transcending the interpretations of the empirical world. The research analyzes the metafiction in the text based on the relationship with the fantastic-wonderful. The research is based on the contributions of Gustavo Bernardo (2010), Patricia Waugh, and Tzvetan Todorov (1981). With the study it was possible to realize that the representations of metafiction happen through a labyrinth of words that lead the reader to various possibilities of meanings and re-significations for the Aleph.
