Abstract

Cormac McCarthy's novels All the pretty horses (1992), No country for old men (2005), and The road (2006) and their respective film adaptations contribute to reflect on contemporary subjects, mainly because they present certain dislocations of identities in the face of the experience of living in the United States/Mexico border space. The present work dialogues with spatial (HARVEY, 2014) and identity (HALL, 2005) aspects applied to McCarthy's work and the adapted films, also putting into debate the relationship between literature and cinema according to Cruz (2003) and Pellegrini (2003), observing traces between the narratives.
