Abstract

The reading of Bertolt Brecht’s Journals can clarify different moments of the German playwright’s thought. In this article, we focus on the period in which Brecht found himself in exile in the United States (1941-1947). Our goal is to understand both the context in which he lived in and the relationships established through his work, as well as his opinions and disagreements mainly regarding scene designer Max Gorelik’s and playwright Clifford Odets’ thoughts.
