Abstract

This article introduces a view at the appropriation of biographical and historical facts, related to English poet Edmund Spenser, by Irish playwright Frank McGuinness, in Mutabilitie. It was verified that this play conjugates current fragmented data about the Elizabethan period with parts of Spenser’s texts. In this sense, it has been analyzed the potential transposition of one period of the English poet’s life into theatrical stage, considering that McGuinness searches, through intertexts, to reread the Irish history of that time, through the crossroad of cultures, expression used by Patrice Pavis to explain the interculturality in theater.
