Babel: the translation in the aesthetic constitution of the novel

Abstract

The object under study is the contemporary novel A tradutora, by the writer from Santa Catarina, Cristovão Tezza. In the present research we propose a resumption of the discussion developed by the young Lukács on the question of modernity, in its visceral relation with the novel form. Under this theoretical plane, we will approach the question of the protagonist as an individual restricted to his experience of interiority. In order to focus on the question of modernity in the novel under study, we will focus on the question of translation, understanding the interlocutions between the work activity of the protagonist Beatriz and her own affective experiences, understanding them as a constant process of mediation between subject and reality.
