This essay examines passages of Maurice Blanchot’s récits according to the indication of the four winds of the absence of spirit, the terms disaster, outside, return and neutral. The term disaster organizes - and disconcerts - our reading because it’s only possible to fulfill it starting with the deletion of the importance of disaster, which, just as in the relation to the three terms, is an inconvenient force of attraction on Blanchot’s work. Thus the disappearance of the 'disaster', specially in the manifestation of 'an excessive here', does not prevente the attempt of an endless discussion about the disaster as the great dissimulation, or the great irony.
